The Kao Sao is a block that takes people by surprise. Your opponent can think they have a strike on its way into your middle, only to find that you have diverted it and hit them. It is perfect for when you are in very close and their hand may already in and past your initial guard. This is why it is learned in conjunction with the upper cut as this strike is perfect for very close work. If you can get a hand inside your opponent’s guard, the upper cut will finish a fight. Another fast double kick combination for you in this form and it really is quick. Don’t withdraw the knee between kicks, just roll the hips and you’ll soon get the hang of this one.
